 In 2016, Danny Thompson drove his father Mickey Thompson's Challenger II to break the existing naturally aspirated streamliner record with a combined speed of 406.769mph. Then in 2018 he drove the restored 50-year-old vehicle to a blistering two-way AA/FS record of 448.757mph, a mark that stands to this day.

Back in 1993-94 David Smith decided he wanted to purchase and drive a vintage race car, but not just any vintage race car. David was the first in the USA to purchase a modern, ex-Ferrari F1 car from the factory and his actions drove Ferrari to consider what became their Ferrari F1 Clienti program where today you can purchase an ex-Ferrari F1 car and drive it on the track.
