Jason Torchinsky is a writer and an artist who indulges is disturbingly deep obsession with automobiles, in his role as Associate Editor on the popular website, Jalopnik. Jason has written a book, opened for George Carlin as a stand-up comedian, written for the Onion, and he’s had art installations in several cities around the world. Jason’s raced cars, wrecked cars, and produced many car-related artworks, articles, and talks. Jason grew up in North Carolina, lived a long time in Los Angeles, and is now back in North Carolina, which he’s hoping doesn’t make him some kind of loser.

Bobby Rahal is the Co-Owner of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing in Hillard, Ohio and Brownsburg, Indiana. He worked his way up through the racing ranks starting with SCCA’s feeder series in Formula Atlantic, then to European Formula Two. During an 18-year career spanning F1, Can-Am, Le Mans/IMSA, and CART, Bobby notched three CART championships, including a win at the 1986 Indy 500. He won at the 1981 24 Hours of Daytona and the 1987 12 Hours of Sebring. With 264 race starts for five teams he took 18 poles and scored 24 wins including back-to-back CART championships. Today Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing has won races in CART/Champ Car, the IndyCar Series, the Indy Racing League, Indy Lights, and the American LeMans Series.

Donnie Calloway has spent over 30 years restoring magnificent collectible cars, most of them Ferraris. It started with him growing up in Los Angeles, then working at Hollywood Sports Cars, and soon thereafter, spending time in Hawaii with an uncle learning to hand form aluminum bodies. He does complete restorations, does all his own engine work, documents the builds, and reassembles concours level cars that win first places and breaking world records at auctions. Donnie has worked on pretty much every Ferrari model made including 512 BBs, 365 2+2s, TDFs, James Coburn’s California Spyder, and many, many others.

Tom Glatch is an automotive photographer and author whose new book is titled The Complete Book of American Muscle Supercars. In 1983 he wrote his first article for Circle Track Magazine, a Peterson publication. He’s written many stories on numerous subjects including vintage racing and shot photographs for calendars and magazines including Collectible Automobile to Pontiac Enthusiast. He still works for the same Fortune 500 company that hired him out of high school in 1974 and he’s currently in the Global Supply Chain group as a data and systems analyst. This latest book, published by Motorbooks, is his first and covers American muscle cars including the Yenko, Shelby, Baldwin Motion, Grand Spaulding, Saleen, Callaway, and many more.

Jason Len is the President at XK’s Unlimited in San Luis Obispo, California. He is a worldwide supplier of Classic Jaguar parts and restores classic Jaguars and other collectible automobiles. He’s earned a worldwide reputation as an expert in his field after 43 years of business. Jason is a passionate sports car racer who started racing with the SCCA back in the mid 70s in an HP Sprite, a car he’s raced continuously every since. He ran an IMSA Corvette for a few years and he’s raced his E-Type Jaguar for 35+ years, originally in SCCA and now as a vintage racing participant. He also restores classic motorcycles and enjoyed touring on a bike and has been as far north as the Arctic Circle and south to Mexico City plus touring in the Western United States and Europe.

Warren Lubow owns and operations Wild About Cars Garage in Kirkland, Washington. He is a seasoned automotive expert with a deep knowledge in classic cars, the automotive industry, collections management, restorations, sales, and service. He owns a number of Shelby Mustangs and lists among his major life achievements as dodging death by the hands of an international drug-smuggling cartel while visiting Carroll Shelby’s home in Mexico… while on his honeymoon. George is the former editor of Autoweek and sits on the board of directors of the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America. His latest venture is his new book titled Can-Am 50th Anniversary. Pete Biro is a photographer and journalist whose 50 plus year career started when Road & Track magazine asked him to supply them with a story on the Barneson Special, a custom-made sports car. The iconic David E. Davis Jr. discovered Pete’s work and gave him assignments for Car and Driver magazines. Pete and David traveled the world covering races including Le Mans, Grand Prix’s, and most major races and he shot for Sports Illustrated, Time, Life and many others. He met and became friends with many of the great drivers including: Dan Gurney, Phil Hill, Bruce Mclaren, Denny Hulme, Jackie Stewart, A.J. Foyt, Richard Petty and many others. He worked for Dan Gurney as a public relations guy during the time Bobby Unser won the Indy 500. His latest endeavor is supplying photos for the new book Can-Am 50th Anniversary collaborating with author George Levy.

Bogi Lateiner is a master mechanic and owner of the award winning auto repair shop, 180 Degrees Automotive in Phoenix, Arizona. A writer, a speaker, and a teacher, Bogi is passionate about improving the reputation of the automotive industry and changing the way women, in particular, feel about cars and the automotive repair experience. Bogi teaches automotive basics to women around the country, consults and teaches classes to repair shop owners and other small business owners, and appears as one of three female mechanics on All Girls Garage on Velocity Channel.

Mike Skinner’s racing career spans more than 40 years. He started racing in 1975 in a wrecked Plymouth Road Racer. He ran on dirt tracks, winning three championships, racing at night while holding down a day job to pay for his track time. He’s raced stock cars to NASCAR trucks both in the U.S.A. and abroad and in 1995 he was the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion. Mike’s worked in television and radio as a personality and today you can find him racing his NASCAR Trucks up the hill at Goodwood Festival of Speed, running in vintage racing events, and cohosting Skinner Round-Up on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Mike supports charities through the annual “Skinner Round-Up For Charity” event, and serves as a spokesperson for Hope For The Warriors, a military nonprofit dedicated to restoring self, family, and hope for post-9/11 service members, veterans and military families. In 2013, Mike was inducted into the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame. Currently he's the American "Stig" on the new Amazon series The Grand Tour with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.

Jim Carpenter is the owner of Italian Design and Racing in Mesa, Arizona. He's been modifying Ferraris since 1987 helping his customers fulfill their dreams. He and his team modify Ferrari bodies, chassis, engines, exhausts, gearboxes, and much more. He has designed and completed numerous convertible conversions for the Ferrari 308 models plus adding spoilers and accent parts. Racing though is Jim's true passion and he has completed many 308 model conversions to fully compliant SCCA race cars. His clients enjoy their cars in SCCA, historic, Ferrari club track and racing events. A recent build involved modifying a 330 GT 2+2 chassis using a Ferrari P4 style body plus a Ferrari 550 Maranello engine.

Nick Candee is the Vice Chair and Historian of the Aston Martin Owner’s Club East serving eastern Canada and the US. He is the former editor of The Vantage Point magazine, an Aston Martin Club publication and he is the Principal of Candee & Company with over 30 years of expertise in international corporate planning, specializing in Latin American markets. Nick just published a new book, co-authored with Stephen Archer titled The Aston Martin DB4GT published by Palawan Press in the United Kingdom. This 544 page book with over 800 photographs and illustrations examines in detail the history of every DB4GT manufactured including the design and development of the car. It is a definitive collectors book telling the brilliance and craftsmanship required to build these magnificent cars. 

Philip Caggiano is an automotive designer who combines his passion for luxury and collectable automobiles with his love of creating custom furniture where good design is the common thread. He is a designer, fabricator, and the President of his Design Firm in Westchester, New York. In addition to building custom cars and individualizing supercars Philip is a multi-disciplined designer, artisan, engineer, and fabricator who has mastered old world craftsmanship in the construction of his contemporary furniture where he holds multiple patents. He has refurbished classic cars and worked for Ferrari, Porsche, and BMW helping their motor sports teams. You’ll find him published in numerous magazines from Sports Car Market to Cavallino and the recipient of many design awards.

Neil Pitt is the President of Speed Digital in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is an experienced business and information technology leader who has worked in a variety of industries including retail, financial services, telecommunications, transportation, and information technology. Scott Tucker is the General Manager at Borelli Motor Sports in San Jose, California. He is a highly experienced automotive technician, tuner, concours-level vintage automobile restorer, a college instructor, and skilled business manager. Working closely with the owner, Ralph Borelli, the team at Borelli Motor Sports provides their clients with the finest in performance automotive care and restoration. Scott was a calibration engineer and software developer for Dinan Engineering, North America’s largest BMW tuner. He was the service and restoration manager at Canepa Design where he cared for a wide variety of classic collector and vintage race cars. His long career around formidable automobile has allowed him drive everything from a Yugo to a Ferrari 250 GTO.

Keith Kaucher is an automotive designer and the owner of Kaucher Kustoms in Santa Monica, California. He has designed more than 60 custom cars ranging from a 1936 De Soto Airflow to a 2009 Camaro. He creates custom automobiles for clients around the world. He’s designed many wheels from aftermarket to OEM including the 2004 Mustang Bullit. The first of his designs he took to the Grand National Roadster show in 2006 won first place for Best Post War Hardtop Traditional Custom. Since then he’s earned numerous awards and trophies for his car designs. His latest car is the 1960 Buick named “Lectrafied” and it won the 2016 Grand National Roadster Show. When you ask Keith which of the cars he’s designed are his favorites you’ll hear him say, “My next design...”.

Joel Clark is an automotive artist who has had a career in the creative field since graduating from Central St. Martins in 1996. In the depths of the last recession he picked up a paintbrush and started creating. He works in a medium combining hand cut vinyl graphics in a collage form creating sculptures. His mix of bold, graphic colors result in a hand-crafted look creating a hyper-realism Pop Art style that transforms real objects, including vehicle parts, in to pieces that become surreal. His art invites the viewer to create their own narrative – such as “Where is the car and what is it doing there?”

Dick Ruzzin was an automobile designer and Director of Design for General Motors of Europe and Chevrolet, when he retired. He owns the only Corvette powered De Tomaso Mangusta built at the factory. During his career Dick worked on over 140 car design programs including the Opel Maxx, the inspiration for the Swatch Car. During his career he also created car design exhibits, automotive shows, design awards for NAIAS, furniture, Christmas parade floats, graphics for the Americas Cup and the Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit. Since retiring he has written the book about the De Tomaso Mangusta, titled Bella Mangusta, penned magazine articles, and works in education as a mentor for design students.

Stephen Plaster is the Chairman and CEO of Evergreen Investments and the Managing Partner at Passport Transport and Champion Brands, in addition to being the Chairman and CEO of numerous other companies. Evergreen Investments is a private equity firm with a focus in the buyout of small to mid-sized companies where their portfolio includes: Champion Brands, Empire Pipeline, Empire Exploration, Passport Transport, and many other companies. Stephen’s passion for cars runs long and deep and part of his holdings include Evergreen Historic Automobiles, a facility for events and the collection. Passport Transport was founded in 1970 and is a leader in the shipping of fine automobiles around the country. Gautam Sen is acknowledges as India’s leading automotive journalist and writer. He has written several critically acclaimed books on automobiles and his latest is titled Marcello Gandini: Maestro of Design. In 1986 he founded India’s first and subsequently most successful automobile magazine Indian Auto. Based in Paris, Gautam is involved in several projects to design and develop cars for the Indian and international markets, he consulted or India’s leading automotive manufacturers and he led the design and development of India’s first sports car, the San Storm. Since 2015 he has been a Vice President at FIVA (Fédération Internationale de Véhicules Anciens), the international federation for historic vehicles.

Tim Layzell is one of the world’s leading automotive artists. He lives in the United Kingdom where he was raised and in 1995, at the age of 13, he won the British Racing Driver’s Club’s prestigious Young Motoring Artist Award and a career in art was born. Tim has two very distinctive styles with an eye for super realism and super detail while maintaining an element of nostalgia and pop art boldness. His enthusiasm for motor racing encompasses a majority of his work and he’s a regular participant in vintage rallies and trials events. RJ De Vera is the Customer Engagement Leader at Meguiar’s Car Care. Formerly the editor at Street Magazine where he wrote and photographed the youth car culture movement. He was a consultant for the Fast and Furious movie franchise and one of his tuned automobiles was the Honda S2000 driven by the movies villains. He’s judged and hosted a car building competition show on MTV titled Trick It Out and he styled over 30 high profile image vehicles. RJ continues active in the car culture as a marketing and culture leader for Meguiar’s helping to ensure automotive enthusiasts passion for cars continues.

Bob Folkestad is the President of Creative Werks, a company that specializes in electromechanical integration of RF devices in to a variety of applications. Creative Werks is the sole importer for General Cab Group of Asti, Italy, a company that manufactures GC Cooling electronic fans and blowers. He and his talented team focus on growing GC Cooling’s fans by integrating the product line that is used by Mercedes Benz, Volvo, Ferrari, and Maserati in Europe and the OEM market. Bob’s background in applied engineering and product design has allowed him to create more than 50 electrical control systems in the automotive industry. He also holds several patents for tools and firearms and he’s a pilot of small aircraft.

Peter Kumar is the Founder of Gullwing Motor Cars located New York. Born and raised in India, he worked as a young man in an auto parts store where his fascination with cars began. He opened his first car dealership in Miami, Florida and in 1988 he moved it to New York. At Gullwing Motor Cars Peter and his talented team buy and sell the finest collectible motorcars focusing mostly on European marques. Peter travels the world looking for the perfect vehicles for his clients and instead of consigning cars he owns his inventory. As for his company name, Peter was fascinated with the first Gullwing he spotted at a Mercedes dealership when he was young so bought a model that still sits on his desk today, and he purchased his first real Gullwing in 1993.

Jay Howard is the Founder and President of JHE Production, one of the nation’s premier event and corporate meeting production companies. Founded in 1987 JHE Production handles fortune 500 company events for brands including Sprint, Coca-Cola, Bank of America, Ford, Chevrolet, NASCAR, IndyCar, and major sports teams. Jay is also the Director of the Pinehurst Concours d’Elegance that takes place in April each year in North Carolina at the iconic Pinehurst Golf Course. JHE has received numerous awards and distinctions for their business achievements and in 2016 they were acquired by CSM, a global leader in sports and entertainment.

Malcolm Hogan is the publisher of Automotive Addicts and a consulting Internet marketing manager for a large software firm.  Malcolm's passion for cars roots back to childhood. Since then, the passion has grown into a love he shares in his latest work, which can be found in many automotive publications, including his very own AutomotiveAddicts.com website and the Drive section of The Florida Times-Union, Northeast Florida’s highest circulated newspaper. Malcolm is also the founder of the monthly Automotive Addicts Cars and Coffee event in Jacksonville, FL, one of the largest venues of its type on the east coast of the USA.

Alan Johnson is a long time automotive enthusiast who was a high-performance driving instructor, author, racer, and speaker with four SCCA National Championships to his credit. He has class wins in the Sebring 12 hours, a TransAm win and raced in the Daytona 24 Hour. He co-authored the book Driving in Competition, a successful book on road racing and a re-write is coming next year. He was the owner and General Manager at Alan Johnson Porsche Audi and partner at Scottsdale Porsche, Audi, Jaguar, Land Rover. Alan was a board member at the San Diego Automotive Museum and currently serves on the San Diego Air & Space Museum Board. Today he is an Executive Consultant and Associate at MAP, Management Action Programs.

Rob Earle is the Managing Director of Gtechniq in the United Kingdom, a worldwide, ultra-durable line of car care products. As the son of two time Grand Prix winning race car driver, Rob’s mother was a big influence on his life and passion for cars. Gtechniq was founded in 2000 by Rob’s good friend Drew Gil. Drew, a fellow petrolhead, was so dissatisfied with other car care brands he decided to create his own. Armed with a Ph D in Quantum Physics and Applied Mathematics Drew developed a superior line of products and in 2004 Rob purchased the European rights for Gtechniq transforming Drew’s research project in to a well respected, international line of products for automotive enthusiasts who demand perfection. John Rafert has had many jobs over his 70 plus years. A bartender, copy boy, teacher, owned businesses, an X-Ray tech, and worked in a level 1 trauma center, and a professor of radiologic sciences. He’s also been a car guy his whole life. Born and raised in Indianapolis, that’s pretty common. In his retirement, John’s taken up a new challenge. Learning how to create 3D automotive pieces, and automotive related products using Computer Graphics. He started with the demonstration principles of radiography and migrated in to cars and other objects he found interesting. By studying coach builders and styling houses including Pinifarina, and past Cars Yeah guest Raffi Minasian, John takens his passion for cars in a new direction proving you can indeed teach an old dog new skills.

Peter Vincent is an artist, author, and photographer who’s been working with the landscape at the Bonneville Salt Flats for over 20 years, and 40 years of Photographic Art, combining it with the Sub-Culture of Land Speed Racing and the Pop-Culture of the American Hot Rod. He’s a regular on the salt every August for “Speed Week” and never misses this gathering, ever. He’s published numerous books on the automobile and his work has been displayed in museums across the country including many permanent collections. His fourth book, The Bonneville Salt Flats, 20 Years of Photography was released in the fall of 2013. Peter’s fifth book, The Rolling Bones is now available. His images have been published in many magazine including The Rodder’s Journal, Hop Up, Hot Rod and American Rodder. His iconic 7 Coupes photograph, taken in 2002, appeared on the cover of Hop Up magazine. One of Peter’s photographs hangs in my home.

Jim Canova owns and operates Canova Bros. Auto Detailing located in Silicon Valley. He’s been caring for his customer’s vehicles since the early 90s. Several of his clients have shown their vehicles on the lawn at Pebble Beach. Jim’s also an industrial designer who has created several unique detailing products. His latest venture and design is the Bumbee Seat, a Kickstarter Design Project that funded at 141% of its goal and was 100% fulfilled. The BumBee seat is a custom sit-on detailing creeper designed to make your time cleaning a vehicle more comfortable. Jim also sits on the board of two local educational departments.

Anna-Louise Felstead is a fine artist who lives in London. She graduated from the Royal College of Art having received first class honors from Central Saint Martins. She is regarded at a reportage artist as her work is often created on location. While she paints a wide variety of subjects many of her pieces are transportation related including modern racing cars. In 2005 she was commissioned by the Ministry of Defense to paint their aircraft carriers, harrier jump jets, and helicopters. You’ve seen her in the pits at Laguna Seca during the historic races, on the lawn at Pebble Beach, at the Nürburgring, Goodwood, Monza, and Spa.

Keith Maher founded Maher Solutions in 2007 and he is the Co-Founder and CEO of VR Motion. His mission is to help people in various sectors of the automotive industry achieve their goals through simulation. He and his team provide professional level training for racers, teams, and institutions around the globe. Keith is the leading authority in automotive simulation, from programming to podiums. He has a 22 plus year career in high technology and his obsession for motorsports resulted in a convergence of cars and computers to design and build world-class simulators. Brock Yates Jr. is the son of one of America’s best-known automotive journalists and growing up around cars and racing was his life. He played at Watkins Glen while his father raced, he apprenticed with race car builder Ron Nash and he’s a veteran of the first Cannonball Sea-to-Shining-Sea memorial Trophy Dash as a 14 year old in 1071, his destiny was cast. Brock’s run the one Lap of America, the La Carrera Classico, the Silver State Classic Challenge, and SCCA Showroom Stock, plus numerous other racing adventures. In 2009 he took over the Tire Rack One Lap of America and he teaches for Driving Dynamics, a company that specializes in instructing the pharmaceutical industry drivers to make them safer on the road.

Uwe Mansshardt is a professional stunt driver who lives in Hamberg, Germany. It all started when he was 14 while on a trip to Italy when he witnessed new Ferrari’s being tested and the hook was set. He worked as a stuntman in movies at the German Warner Bros. Movie World. That set the course toward training at Rick Seaman’s Hollywood Stunt Driver’s School in L.A. and from there he earned his FIA racing license at Zackspeed Driving Academy at the Nürburging. Today Uwe drives in commercials for Porsche, Mercedes, McLaren, and he’s even been a stunt driving double for Michael Schumacher and David Coulthard.

John Straub is an automotive photographer from San Diego, California who’s been snapping shots of cars since he was 13 years old. His images have been published in numerous publications including Road and Track and The New York Times. He’s been the official photographer for the Carmel by the Sea Concours and he is a member of the Motor Press Guild and the San Diego Museum of Photographic Arts. His photography has hung in numerous exhibits, automotive enthusiast’s homes and offices, in galleries, and he operates his own blog titled Along For The Ride where you can enjoy his work on a regular basis. Steve Schenko is an Art Director, illustrator, and automotive enthusiast from Sydney, Australia. He founded 1-of-1 Bespoke where he creates high-end custom design pieces for automotive enthusiasts who have an eye for design. His custom art prints are of cars and bikes that he draws from scratch, and tailored for his clients. In addition to his creations at 1-of-1 Bespoke Steve is the founder at Custom Creative, an advertising and design firm in Sydney where they fill the gap between ‘big agencies’ and ‘boutique design firms’ and create brand identity, graphic design, marketing, packaging, brochures, retail design, and more.

Both Bill Warne and Tom Cotter are past guests here on Cars Yeah. Bill is the Founder of the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, one of the top events in the world. He’s been a journalist, photographer, racer, and ran a Porsche 911 in the infamous Cannonball run in 1975. Tom Cotter is an author who wrote the icon six-book series on barn finds starting with The Cobra in the Barn. He’s a long time magazine contributor and travels around the country looking for cool cars and writing stories. Bill and Tom have collaborated and created a new book titled Cuba’s Car Culture, Celebrating The Island’s Automotive Love Affair published by our friends at Motorbooks where Zack Miller runs the company, another past Cars Yeah guest.

Craig Watkins grew up in San Francisco and at the age of six started karting around his parents property. That morphed in to dune buggies and Baja Bugs. His college degree and career was in manufacturing engineering. Craig first raced in the SCORE off road racing series throughout the 80s with Greg Aronson winning 8 races in 42 starts in class 10. He club raced his 1973 Porsche 911 and that lead to an engineering position with Porsche 996 GT3 Cup cars and then he joined team Flying Lizard Motorsports where he was the chief engineer. It was there he met Roland Kussmaul, the Porsche factory racing engineer who was in charge of the GT3 product line. This lead to Craig’s first book Kussmaul Chronicles, The Story of Roland Kussmaul’s Contributions To Porsche’s Total Crushing Domination.

George Saitas is a photographer who specializes in automotive studio and location photography with an emphasis on classic and exotic cars. His favorite projects are commissions where he creates unique, one-of-one single-print, collectable images. He uses photography to create a story and one technique is using psychological layering in his images that act as time bombs in the viewer’s unconscious. Now living in the Santa Cruz Mountains in California, George attended Parsons School of Design in New York. His editorial work has adorned over 45 publications worldwide and his photography has been exhibited in galleries and concours events worldwide.

Emily Miller is the President of Soulside Network, a public relations and sports marketing firm. She is also the founder of the first women’s navigation rally in the U.S., the Rebelle Rally. It is an event that spans 7 days and covers 1,200 miles in California. The focus is on skill, not speed where participants are not allowed any GPS, mobile telephones, nor outside assistance. In her driving adventures, Emily has earned numerous podium finishes and wins including the Baja 1000 and she is the first woman to solo the longest off-road race in the U.S. She has coached over 4,000 people and produced over 100 experiential automotive events. Emily is a recipient of the Women’s Automotive Alliance International “Spirit of Leadership Award” and her mantra is “to finish first, you must first finish”.

Jerry Lane is an automotive artist who has been drawing cars since he was five years old. Since then he’s bee creating original automotive drawings for collectors around the world. Jerry has painted full size murals, color sketches, an oil paintings of many different marques and genres from engine details to collector cars, race cars, and multi-view works. You’ll find Jerry at car events around the country doing what he loves best, drawing and painting cars. Jerry spent most of his career in the gaming business as a third generation member of his family where he often put on car shows at the casinos.

Aaron Jenkins is the Editor-in-Chief at Forza magazine. Forza is a Ferrari focused publication packed with intriguing articles from the heart of the Ferrari world including incisive road tests, history, race reports, insider news, and stunning photography. Published by Ross Periodicals, Forza is one of excellent automotive publications including Excellence, Bimmer, and Corvette. Aaron grew up in central New York near Watkins Glen racetrack. He’s lived in the San Francisco bay area since the mid 90s and has worked in marketing but found his home at Forza and he is currently working on his 100th issue.

Sid Barron is the General Manager at Bentley Atlanta. Bentley Atlanta is the largest Bentley only dealership in the nation. Sid is a longtime Atlanta resident who is originally from Honduras. He started his career in the automotive business in 1986 at a Chrysler dealership and then he migrated to BMW. Dennis Mattish is a life-long San Jose native who cut his teeth at the San Jose racetracks, spending Friday nights at Alviso Speedway, and Saturday nights at San Jose Speedway. Dane Pitarresi owns and operates SkidCar Systems in Las Vegas, Nevada. Since 1990 his focus has been on the delivery and instructions for the use of this system and “It’s about Grip, not Slip” philosophy of driver education. For Dane, it’s all about the cognitive, perceptual motor skills, needed for the improvement of vehicle training from beginners to professionals. Valentino Balboni was born in Casumaro, Italy, less than 7 miles from Ferruccio Lamborghini’s birthplace. Christoph Maeder is a designer from Hannover, Germany whose passion for automobiles runs deep. He studied mechanical and fotografical engineering in school and switched to visual communications where he found his passion. Christoph worked for Zakspeed, a team running a Viper that won the 24 Hours of Nüburgring and Lechner Racing who ran Porsches and then with the Jetalliance who ran an Aston Martin DBR9. From that the book DBR9 The Definitive History came about where he did the design, layout, 3D modeling and the research and writing. Other noted projects include the Carrera 2.7 Book and a complete corporate design program for Jet Alliance. Randy Beikmann is an engineer who has spent decades using one passion, physics, to work on another, cars. His career including working in noise and vibration at the General Motors Milford Proving Grounds for over 30 years where he focused on the noise of engines, transmissions, and electric motors. He also loves to teach, helping to design and teach courses for other engineers. In 2015, Bentley Publishers published his first book, Physics for Gearheads. It combines both of his passions, explaining the physics that really makes cars tick. It is a book he wishes he’d had when he was a teenager. Randy received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan, and currently holds four patents.

Jacques Dallaire is the President at Performance Prime. Over the past forty plus years, he has enjoyed the opportunity to work directly with more than 750 high performance motor racing drivers from forty-three countries, numerous race teams, as well as several thousand high performance individuals from a multitude of sports and a variety of occupations including law enforcement, the entertainment world, and the business community. Dr. Dallaire splits his time between delivering sports-team and corporate/occupational group performance programs and providing individual, one-on-one programs with high-performance competitors from many walks of life. He is a founding member of the International Council of Motorsport Sciences, a board member of the Stand 21 “Racing Goes Safer” Foundation, and in 2007 was inducted into the Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame – in recognition of his innovative, state-of-the-art training strategies and the impact he has had on the sport.

Alex Martin-Banzer was barely a year out of the womb before she attended the Mille Miglia in Italy. Her father is the publisher of Sports Car Market Magazine and host on TV’s What’s My Car Worth. Alex’s life around cars has been non-stop. She learned to shift at 10 years old in a VW Thing and from there double clutching in a Mini Cooper. The classic car hobby has taken her all over the world and provided opportunities to drive on tours, judge at concours events, orchestrate press launches for new sports cars and more. Currently Alex works at Daimler Trucks North American in Portland, Oregon where she’s expanding her knowledge in the mechanical world of automobiles with the iconic Mercedes brand.

David Ghodoussi is the Founder of Optimum Polymer Technologies, known as Opti-Coat based in Memphis, Tennessee. Stephen Serio owns and operates Aston Martin of New England, Lotus Motorsports, and the Bond Group. He started his car business in November of 1987. At that time he was a full-time professional photographer and needed a way to supplement his passion for cars. He ran his own advertising photo studio and also worked in the broadcast television business, however cars remained his passion. In 1990 he pivoted to a full time automotive business specializing in exporting Aston Martins to the UK. He acquired a Lotus franchise in 1991 and an Aston Martin franchise in 1996. Stephen has written for Sports Car Market magazine for over 20 years, and he’s helped Hagerty Insurance and SCM with their price guides. Today he buys and sells all marques of classics from Astons to Ferrari, Porsches and more.

Pushkar Modi is the Chief Auto Enthusiast and Engineering Lead at Turo in San Francisco, California. He’s a design-centric, full-stack software engineer with a passion for cars, Formula One, and Top Gear. Turo is a website where local automobile owners give travelers the perfect vehicle for their next adventure. Founded in 2009 Turo is a car rental marketplace where travelers can rent any car they want, wherever they want, form a vibrant community of local car owners. Richard Truesdell is an automotive photographer and journalist. He produces the Automotive Traveler magazine and Legendary Cougar Magazine. His early entrepreneurial career included owning and operating a car stereo store. He began writing audio reviews for publications including Car and Driver, Autotronics, and Motor Trend. He became the editor of Car Audio and Electronics at Primedia and from there left to become a freelance contributing writer to dozens of automotive magazines. Today Richard is working on a quarterly replacement for Motor Trend Classic planned for a launch later this year.

Scott Speed is a former Formula One Driver and today is the defending Global Rallycross champion. He was the first American in Formula One since Michael Andretti when he joined Scuderia Toro Rosso during the 2006, 2007 seasons. He returned to the United States to race NASCAR and started his Rallycross career in 2013 with a win in his X Games debut in Brazil. In 2014 Scott joined the Volkswagen factory Andretti Rallycross Team and won the title in 2015 with a record eight podiums in 12 rounds. Scott is also an ambassador for the new SEGA game Motorsport Manager, an exciting video game for PC and Mac platforms.

David Borla is the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Borla Performance Industries. Borla is the pioneer and leader in the design and manufacturing of stainless steel performance exhausts. For over three decades they have provided automotive exhaust systems for performance, off-road, street, and racing cars. David had a successful career in the music industry as a musician, songwriter, and producer and he has applied his understanding of acoustics and sound engineering to develop Borla’s signature exhaust note. This marrying of his passion for sound to his families business has allowed him to expand Borla’s success and make this iconic brand a world wide name among automotive enthusiasts.

Doug Pray is the President of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Company in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. There they supply the world with parts for the iconic marques as well as restoring Auburns and Cords. It’s a company his father purchased in 1960, moving it from Auburn, Indiana in to an abandoned pickle factory in Oklahoma. Doug worked in his father’s business when he was 14 in the 60s and stayed until the company closed in 1981. Being an entrepreneur Doug brought it back to life. He has drilled oil wells, owned a drive-in restaurant, started a chrome plating business, ran a successful business restoring, exhibiting, and selling antique gas pumps. In 1997 Doug made a u-turn and became a Chiropractor starting a successful clinic in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

David Nutter is from Arlington, Vermont where he is the producer and host of Hemmings Motor News radio show and podcast. The show is focused on talking with fellow automotive enthusiasts. He’s been with Hemmings for over 11 years as an account representative and spent 20 years prior in the automotive parts business. David is an avid classic car enthusiast and spends lots of time in his 1966 Mustang active in the classic car hobby and community.

RJ Valentine discovered a way to combine his passion for automobiles and racing in to his business. He’s raced for over 40 years with over 400 pro starts including the Trans Am Series. He’s won the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona, driven for PTG Motorsports, and competed in the Grand-Am GT series. A lifetime entrepreneur, he founded the MBA Group in 1969 and one of their many successes was the Jiffy Lube franchise and Lo-Jack Car Security Systems. In 2000 he opened F1 Boston, a European-style indoor kart racetrack and then an outdoor track in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Dan also produces the Optimum Synergy Podcast that focuses on the business side of the detailing industry. For fun he drag races his ’41 Chevy Special Deluxe Coupe with a 383 stroker.

Peter Framson is the CEO of GO. He is a thirty year real estate veteran with an extensive background in retail, anchor leasing, development, and commercial brokerage and he is an avid automotive enthusiast. His new company GO is comprised of a high octane crew that are creating a new space and marketplace that will disrupt and transform today’s automotive enthusiast’s retail and brand experience. Filippo Perini is the Head of Design at Italdesign in Italy. Italdesign is a world leader in the provision of development services for the automotive industry. Born in 1965 Filippo worked as a freelance designer for Alfa Romeo, Fiat Auto, and Aprilia as a consultant for the Federation of Scientific and Technical Associations. In 1995 he joined the Alfa Romeo Centro Stile and in 2001 he was appointed Director of Exterior Design of Alfa Romeo. He worked on the Alfa 159, 147, and 8C Competizione concept car. He was the Senior Exterior Designer at Audi and at Lamborghini he was the Head of Exterior Design. From 2006 to 2015 Filippo managed many successful projects as Director of the Automobili Lamborghini Centro Stile before his current role at Italdesign.

Paolo Feraboli is the Founder and Director of Automobili Lamborghini Advanced Composite Structures Laboratory (ACSL) in Seattle, Washington. He and his team are responsible for the development of new CFRP technologies and structure/chassis concepts for Lamborghini. Paolo is also the Founder and CEO of Gemini Composites, a design firm focused on product development, including design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing components for the automotive and numerous other industries. Since 2013 Dr. Feraboli is also a Research Professor at the Nagoya Institute of Technology in Japan. He is the recipient of the 2010 Young Investigator Award for Composite Materials and the founding Chair of the CMH-17 Working Group on Crashworthiness.

Ken Okuyama is the CEO of Ken Okuyama Design in Yamagata, Japan. Ken was the Chief Design Director for General Motors, a Senior Designer for Porsche AG, and the Design Director for Pinifarina. Among his many automotive designs are the Ferrari Enzo and Maserati Quattroporte. He’s designed numerous projects including motorcycles, Furniture, robots, and architecture. In 2007 he founded his company where he and his team provide design consulting to companies around the globe in numerous industries. They also design and produce limited production automobiles, eyewear, and interior products under the Ken Okuyama brand. Ken is currently director of Yanmar Holdings Company Limited, he’s authored many books and he is a visiting professor at several universities.

Renzo Porro lives in Italy and he is a mechanical engineer whose 38 year career at Fiat included testing, design, research, and sales. He was involved in many of their successful models including the Fiat 128, X19, 124, Uno, Ducato, Lancia Delta and Thema, and the Alfa Romeo 156. His last post at Fiat was as their deputy Vice President of Engineering and Vice President of After Sales Services. Upon retiring he’s worked as a consultant for Sumitomo Electrics of Japan and TRW here in the United States. Renzo also founded three engineering companies that design automobile parts. One of his passions is sailing and he wrote a book on sailing techniques that is considered a must-read for those who love to sail.

Harry Krix is the Co-Founder and Chairman of the new Atlanta Concours d’Elegance taking place at the Chateau Elan Winery and Resort on October 8 and 9th. This inaugural event is sure to become one of the countries premier concours where unique, rare, and valuable collections of vintage and classic automobiles will be displayed on the fairways of Chateau Elan. Don Panoz is the honoree and there will be numerous events and features during the two-day concours. Harry was the Operations Director at Amelia Island with Bill Warner. Harry is an active member of IMSA, SCCA, and BMW CCA. He’s been involved in a number of high-level automobile restorations, race car prep, and served a crew chief on a number of sports car racing teams.

Steve Natale owns a successful marketing company with his wife Mary. He is an automotive photographer, blogger, and writer for multiple automotive magazines and he is a regular contributor to a variety of automotive website. Steve’s been working in the automotive industry for over 35 years and his past business ventures include a used car rental company, a truck rental company, an automotive repair business, a restoration shop, vintage parts dealer, and an automotive dismantling business. Steve travels the world attending vintage car events, museums, and collections.

Doug Herbert is a nationally recognized top fuel drag racing champion. He is the first driver to run over 300 MPH during NHRA eliminations, and his career best speed tops 330 MPH. But in 2008 Doug put his racing career aside when he lost his two young sons, Jon and James, in a tragic car crash. After experiencing a tremendous amount of loss and grief, Doug decided to create a free driving program that teaches advanced safe driving techniques, and founded B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe), a non-profit 501(c)(3) Teen Pro-Active Defensive Driving Program. For over 8 years Doug and B.R.A.K.E.S. have been traveling to various US cities to help prevent injuries and save lives by training and educating teenage drivers and their parents.

Born in 1954, Peter Larsen has been a life long gearhead. He lives in Copenhagen and is currently writing on a book about Joseph Figoni. He serves as a Pebble Beach class judge and he also judges at the Concours d’Elegance at Chantilly outside Paris and at Schloss Dyck in Germany. Peter has a wide taste in cars, having owned automobiles as varied as a Bizzarrini, Facel-Vega, Duesenberg Model J and a number of Maseratis, including two Ghiblis and a 5000GT. His enduring fascination has been with French cars in general and Talbot-Lago in particular, including ownership of two T26 Grand Sports. He and Ben Erickson co-authored the book Talbot-Lago Grand Sport: The Car from Paris and Jacques Saoutchik – Maître Carrossier.

Wade Kawasaki is the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Coker Group, overseeing twelve Coker Group brands and six operating companies. The Coker Group is a family of brands that includes The Coker Tire Company and many other companies offering products in the automotive marketplace. Wade is also the Founder and CEO of Exports International, an exports management company specializing in wholesale distribution of American made automotive specialty aftermarket products. He is also the Chair-Elect for SEMA, the Specialty Equipment Market Association Board of Directors and will become their Chairman in 2017.

Sam Moses is a journalist and author who began writing as a seaman apprentice on a Navy cruiser in the South China Sea. Two days after his discharge he was on the Isle of Man writing about motorcycles. He filed race reports from the Mojave Desert which landed him a job as Motorsports Writer for Sports Illustrated for 18 years. He began racing in 1965 at Watkins Glen on a motorcycles and today he runs in vintage events in his Oldsmobile Cutlass, the “Skoll Bandit”, the same racecar in his book Fast Guys Rich Guys And Idiots , originally released in 1985, which he recently remastered for release. I caught up with Sam at the Pacific Northwest Historic races where I enjoyed watching him mix it up on the track.

In the 1960s Colin ran a mail order business, The Complete Automobilist, that supplied hard-to-find parts. He was the last of the serious privateers in Formula One and has spent his life traveling the world, tracking down, restoring, and racings some the rarest, fastest cars ever made. His book, Colin Crabbe: Thrill of the Chase is an autobiography of his exciting life around racing and automobiles.
